Director Joseph Kosinski has responded to the rumors that his upcoming Formula 1 movie ‘F1,’ starring Brad Pitt, cost $300M. According to Kosinski, the budget rumors reported by PUCK are not true, and he confirms that the film did not cost $300M.
Does Joseph Kosinski’s ‘F1’ Movie Production Budget is $300M?
The first trailer for ‘F1’ was recently released, hinting at a highly anticipated motor-racing movie coming in 2025. Speaking to Deadline, Kosinski said he’s used to seeing journalists over-report budgets: “I’m just going to say I’m used — on a lot of the movies I’ve worked on — to having them over-reported for whatever reason, but I’ve never had an experience where they were off by this much on a film. I’m not sure where that number came from.”
Kosinski revealed, “Formula 1 is kind of the pinnacle of motorsports, so I think over the next year we’ll certainly try to spread the word. But ultimately, we’re making a film that, even if you’ve never been to a race or don’t know anything about it, you’re still going to get a great story and you’re going to learn a lot about the sport as you watch.”
In the film, Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, a former Formula One driver who experienced a devastating crash in the 1990s, leading to his retirement from the sport. However, a Formula One team owner and friend calls him back into the racing world, who requests his assistance in mentoring rookie prodigy Joshua Pearce on the Apex Grand Prix team (APXGP). Directed by Kosinski from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger, the film also stars Damson Idris as Joshua Pearce, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Javier Bardem as Sonny Hayes’ friend and APXGP team principal, Lewis Hamilton as himself, Sarah Niles as Joshua Pearce’s mother, and Will Merrick.
Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Dede Gardner, Lewis Hamilton, Jeremy Kleiner, Joseph Kosinski, Chad Oman, and Brad Pitt, the film is produced by Apple Studios, Dawn Apollo Films, Jerry Bruckheimer Films, and Plan B Entertainment.
When is the Release Date of ‘F1’?
‘F1’ will hit theaters overseas on June 25, 2025, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, followed by its release in the United States on June 27, 2025.
