The first clip from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, featuring Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man and Jon Bernthal‘s The Punisher, has aired on Good Morning America (ABC/GMA).
The footage features the tank chase scene, where Bernthal’s The Punisher interrupts Spider-Man before he can catch the villains. Watch the clip below.
Spider-Man (Tom Holland): “The hell, Frank? You just hit me with a van!”
The Punisher (Jon Bernthal): “Quit your whimpering.”
The Punisher: “Suit yourself.” (The Punisher says, “Moth— f—” before Spider-Man interrupts with, “Go home!”)
Speaking to Good Morning America, Bernthal said it was great to return as Frank Castle/The Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He described Frank Castle as a character he is very protective of.
Bernthal said, “[It’s] great. Frank Castle’s a character I’m enormously protective of, and I think coming into this world, tonally, it’s different, and it’s a real testament to Tom and Destin, the director.
I really believe that this is a Frank Castle that you believe is sort of walking out of that TV-MA world into the Spider-Man world, and I think it was done with real care. I can’t wait for people to see it.”
Jon Bernthal says Frank Castle is an “unusual mentor” to Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Bernthal said, “He’s like, ‘Why are you being a dick to her? Don’t do that—that’s what I do.’ To see himself in this and then be a little protective, like, ‘You’re trying to do the whole dark thing. Don’t do that shit. I do that shit. It’s not fun. Do your shit’—I love that, and I really buy that.”
Here’s the new clip of Spider-Man and The Punisher fighting Hulk.
After the record-breaking global success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man.
Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink joins the cast alongside Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman have also been cast in undisclosed roles, while Michael Mando returns as Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming and Marvin Jones III as Tombstone.
The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
